Christian Takes on England

First, could you tell me a bit about yourself?

“My name is Christian Schroeder, I’m a junior here at GV studying to be a Marketing and Management major. I studied abroad in Kingston University in London, England. I’m a huge advocate of bike riding, fishing, and playing board games.”

Is studying abroad what you expected it would be?

“I knew going abroad I would be in for an adventure, I had no idea just how great of an experience it was going to be! You get immersed into a different culture and if you let yourself go with the flow, you learn more than you ever would in the classroom about their society.”

What is your favorite thing about the country so far?

“My favorite memory I have going abroad was flying to Ireland for a weekend over the semester. On a guided tour we went to Dublin, Galloway, and the Cliffs of Moher. It was an amazing experience.”

How has your experience abroad contributed to your chapter?

“Being a Greek Student abroad, it was a huge opportunity for us to share a little bit of our culture with others. I was asked about Animal House once or twice , and peaked the interests of locals who were thinking of coming to America for study abroad!
The lessons of patients, decisiveness, organization were key themes that I brought back to my Leadership position on Eboard in Delta Sigma Phi”

What advice would you give for someone interested in studying abroad?

” If I could give a piece of advice to anyone on the edge of studying abroad or not, I would say do it, you’ll never be able to get the same experience outside of college!”
